Looking Back
Sometimes I just get inspired. I don’t normally like to gratuitously self-promote, but I did like what I wrote here, so I thought I’d cross-post it.
My fellow TNG Munch Buddy BainAduial wrote a FetLife journal entry about a love lost. I wrote this as a comment for her:
What does make it easier is looking back on it, years from now, after you’ve found a deeper and long-lasting love, and reminiscing. Not for how foolish you were, because you’ll know that’s how first loves work, and you shouldn’t feel foolish for that. But you will remember how good it felt to have that first, new experience. You’ll be able to look back without fear at the dark depths, because you’ll be in a place of strength. You’ll let yourself feel that pang of longing and what-could-have-been, and joyfully let it go in exchange for what is now.
You’ll have this journal entry to remind you how you felt then, and how you felt today. And you’ll look at this comment, and know.
